I love a good adventure! Planning a trip with the ones you love to somewhere you’ve never been, what’s not fun about that? This past weekend my husband and I got the chance to visit my father in law in Santa Rosa, CA; let me tell you, it’s beautiful out there. Something about being by the sea and basking in the sun off the coast or having lunch in a quaint little town just speaks soothing vibes to me.
Our first stop when we landed was this amazing breakfast spot called, KC’s American Kitchen, where literally everything on the menu made your mouth water. Now you may not know this about me, but I’m probably one of the most indecisive people you’ll ever meet. So having that many delicious options to choose from was extremely difficult for me. I mean the place has 11 types of Eggs Benedict, what’s not to love? So obviously I had to try one and eventually nailed down my decision to the Chicken and Bacon Benny (I’ll let you salivate on the sound of that for a second). It was every bit as scrumptious, rich and flavorful as it sounds. Fried chicken, Applewood bacon on top of Eggs Benedict (with a slice of tomato, which really added that fresh take I didn’t realize my benedict was missing) drenched in the creamiest hollandaise sauce…. I know, I know, my stomach is grumbling now too just thinking about it again. If you are ever in the area, I 100% recommend you check this place out. The perfect brunch spot with a cute little patio.
After we were completely stuffed, possibly a little too stuffed (but well worth it), we took a drive up the coast and went to a little area called Sea Ranch. The last few weeks were over 100 degrees, so this beautiful breeze swept 70-degree day was just what the doctor ordered. We took a nice trail around the cliffs and even went climbing on the rocks. We were so close to the waves; we could feel the mist from the ocean.
So refreshing…except when the tide gets a little too high and almost drenches you lol. **Spoiler Alert, don’t observe the water too closely or you might get splashed a little. I think the highlight moment was when we saw Whales frolicking in the water. I think we stood there for a good 20 minutes just trying to spot them and watch them go.
The next day was definitely a good day because it involved going to wine country; wine me up and watch me go! We visited three winery’s: Foppiano Vineyards, Quivira Vineyards and Pedroncelli Winery. I’d have to say all were great and so friendly, but in terms of which one tasted best in my opinion, Quivira wins! My husband and I ended up getting the velvetiest wine, I believe it’s the 2014 Flight Zinfandel and my goodness it was delicious. However, by the time we got to the third winery, I was starting to get all sorts of buzzed and needed to get food in me asap, so you can imagine that when I saw cheese and crackers at Pedroncelli Winery, I dug in!! lol
The last day, the hottest of the three days, we decided to take it easy. We went to an Airplane Museum, which was kind of cool. Pearson (my husband) truly enjoyed the museum and all it had to offer. He was even explaining what some of them were used for back in the day to me; I told you he knew random facts lol. So it was nice seeing him get giddy with excitement over everything. We then decided to go see a movie, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, which actually was a lot better than I expected and truly had some great funny moments.
Overall, the weekend was such a delight filled with laughter, adventure and lots of amazing food and drinks. My goal has been to travel more, even if it’s just for the weekend. To experience some place new every now and then and just enjoy life. So thankful we got to take a little break and enjoy the views.
