Well guys, according to every radio ad, Summer is here! If you’re headed out to Cali anytime soon, man oh man, do I have the weekend plan for you!!
We just celebrated Memorial Day, and I can honestly say I was soooo LA this weekend! I had the absolute privilege of hosting a few friends this past weekend for the holiday and we were able to cram so much into a short period of time. I’m not going to lie, I’m still pretty exhausted and trying to recover from the long weekend. Accomplishments: Korean BBQ, Wine Safari Trips, Hiking, Games, Dessert and more.
The whole reason for this trip was to celebrate one of my best friend’s birthdays, and I’d like to say we succeeded in making it a memorable one. After having a veryyyyy filling dinner on Saturday night Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ (which if you’ve never been there, go now) we were ready to kick off our Sunday with a Malibu Wine Safari tour. Hidden amongst the Malibu hills is the cutest little vineyard where your amusing two-part dream team (guide + driver) will take you on an adventure upon this safari decorated Jeep. Depending on what tour you book, they’ll make stops throughout your ride to admire the scenery, drink some wine and of course interact with the animals! We were able to meet all sorts of beautiful creatures: Kendrick Lla-ma, Michelle & Barack O’llama, Llama Del Ray, Justin Zieber, Bonnie & Clyde (Camels) and of course the highly anticipated, Stanley the Giraffe!! It was quite the exploration. Once the Safari tour concluded, theres a trolley that takes you from the Safari location the main event spots down the hill. At this location, they have sometimes live music, food trucks and of course areas where you can do wine tasting.
By the time we were completely wined out, it was time to dine out (oook, I know that one was lame lol). One thing about my friend and I, we’re obsessed with cheese!!!! I mean…. what’s not to love? She recommended this restaurant and cheese bar called Forma! Oh. EM. GEE! We loved everything about this restaurant. The atmosphere was great, the food was divine and there’s a spot within the restaurant where you can actually see them cook your pasta (select pastas) in a cheese wheel; scraping ALLLLLL the cheesy goodness onto your noodles and mixing it in. I’m pretty sure I defined that night as Glorious!
Now for the hard work portion…. the hike that almost ended us all, jkjk. We wanted to hike to the Hollywood Sign, because you know, you have to do it for the Gram. When I say that the climb to the top was intense, I’m not joking. The entire hike was an extremely steep uphill climb. We had to take many breaks in order to: catch our breath, let people pass by, catch our breath, make sure we didn’t fall….did I mention catch our breath? Man, if you ever want to feel weak and out of shape (which I don’t think anyone would want that), I recommend this hike ha. Once we got to the first top (not even the Hollywood Sign) we rested for at least 15 minutes before embarking on the true journey to the finish line. When we finally reached our destination, the whole group decided we were taking an uber back lol. My friend put it this way, “I said I wanted to hike to the Hollywood Sign, I didn’t say anything about hiking back.” Would I advise going on this hike? Mmm for the views and of course the content for your IG you’ll get, maybe. Am I going to do the hike ever again? HARD PASS 😑. **TOP SECRET: If you want the content, but not the hike…. Just park close enough down the hill where you can still see the sign in the background.
Of course, we can’t celebrate the holiday without having at least one BBQ experience, I mean it is ‘Summer’. Nothing like sitting in the backyard, enjoying the beautiful sunset view with some burgers and angel food cake! It was the PERFECT way to end my weekend with a few of my favorite people!!
Moral of the story, if you find yourself planning a trip to Los Angeles anytime soon, you have some fun ideas you can share with your friends that will definitely get the party started and a weekend filled with so much fun!!
Let me know if you ever come out here!! I’d love to hear about your SOOO LA weekend!!
