Guess what?! 2018 is just a few months away…. Let that sink in.
Check in with yourself, how do you think this year has gone for you so far? What is your goal when you look back on 2017? What did you want to accomplish? This year for me has been filled with a lot of ups and downs. I’ve gone through stages of feeling inadequate and uninspired to embracing myself, my confidence and gaining the inspiration I thought I lost. I know this is a feeling that a lot of people tend to have, we just might not share these thoughts and feelings out loud with others. It can be daunting trying to figure out how to get out of those stages, trust me I understand. I think it’s time that we start taking charge of our lives again, and that requires us to have a different mindset and possibly start some new habits as well.
One of my favorite quotes: “Set some goals. Stay quiet about them. Smash the shit out them. Clap for your dam self.” ~ Author Unknown
Below I’ve listed a few questions to ask yourself, to reflect on really, and help give you a vision of what you’d like to move towards. Don’t overthink it, just whatever pops in your head jot it down. This is for you to help you grow and regain that confidence and inspiration you want in your life!
- What are the top three things I want to achieve before January 1st 2018?
Maybe you want to ask for that raise from your boss that you totally deserve, or you want to travel to a beautiful destination you’ve never been to before. Maybe it’s as simple as finishing your long list of books that you’ve purchased and have yet to read (ok, that could possibly just be on my list).
- In order to achieve the above, what useless habits do I need to limit?
Checking social media is at the top of the list for many, including myself. What about gambling, drinking, maybe even online shopping? Be honest here! When you feel the need to do whatever habit you’ve grown accustomed to, note it and then tell yourself “it’s going to be ok if I don’t do this right now”, bringing you back to whatever you were currently working on. It’s not going to be easy, but easy doesn’t help create change and I promise it will be worth it.
- Who do I need to lessen (or even end) my time with?
This one may be a bit difficult. We all have those people in our lives that we love, however they make it challenging for you to get stuff done because all they want to do is have fun or their negativity really kills your vibe. Speaking from experience, it’s hard to let go. You have to remember, you have a plan for your life or how you want it to be and sometimes those you love don’t fit in as well as you’d hope anymore. It’s sad, but it’s not the end of the world. Your paths just took you two different ways and you need to ensure you’re getting the space you need to achieve all you set out for.
- Who do I need to spend time with more?
100% with people who inspire you and make you happy. Those friends you find funny or have the same work ethic as you; the ones that are so fierce and motivate you, that’s who you need to spend more time with. Start making a list of these people and begin inviting them out for coffee or a movie, maybe motivational dinners!
- What attitude or mindset do I want to embody and how can I stay on track?
This question might take a little longer to answer, that’s ok! This could be a word or phrase, whatever you feel is right. Take your time with it because I want you to really take this word, phrase, feeling or energy to heart and exemplify it fully. Whatever you choose, make sure it gets you amped up and helps put you in the right state of mind! To stay on track, I’d suggest a variety of options, such as creating a vision board showcasing what you want to make of your life. Put it somewhere you can see it daily, as a reminder. Possibly post it notes with little inspiring mantras written on them around the house. Since we’re in the technology day and age, maybe it’s using Pinterest and coming up with motivational boards of your vision or using an app that helps inspire you! The world is yours.
Once you’re done answering those questions, I’d suggest putting this somewhere you’ll see it often, as a reminder of the goals you’ve set for yourself. Check them off as you accomplish them; you will accomplish them. You want to know why I know that, because you got this babe!
